Information SLK surface temperature
Setting of the Laboratory hot plates surface temperature of the SLK group 1. Environment:
2. The surface temperature has been measured after the transient response time: A transient response time of approx. 1 hour has been waited for concerning the stages 1 and 2 each, thereafter approx. ½ hour each stage. 3. Please note that the measured idle running temperature is strongly dependent on the subjection to environmental conditions (draft, ambient temperature). 4. Furthermore, due to deviations of the heating elements (10 %) temperature differences also may occur. 5. The influence of the power consumption is an important factor to take into consideration too. 6. SLK 1 and SLK 2 have a built-in over-temperature limiter (short rod limiter) that switches off at approx. < 600 °C. SLK 3, SLK 4, SLK 5 and SLK 6 have a surface temperature of approx. 500 °C. In this case controlling is done by the capillary tube sensor. This only is valuable for idle running (no contents). 7. Please notice: Stage 9 automatically changes down after 3 hours to stage 8 (safety function). 8. Surface temperature
In principle: You cannot conclude from the mentioned surface temperature to reach an eventual temperature of the food to be cooked, as the temperature strongly depends from the following conditions such as: quantity of the contents, heat capacity, receptacle, surface of the receptacle, thermal tying of the receptacle and of the heating surface, ambient temperature, supply voltage, tolerances of the heating element and the measuring method. As the supplied energy is constant (power regulation) the approachable temperature is limited because of the heat absorption of the cooking material. In this case the mentioned power corresponds about the nominal power of the heating element multiplied with the duty cycle (refer to table below) of the respective adjusted stage.
